Florida mum accused of dog sex allowed home for dinners

A Florida mother accused of engaging in sexual acts with her family dog has been permitted to return home in the evenings to eat dinner and spend time with her pets despite facing serious criminal charges.

Malia Nummerdor, 38, is currently out on bail and couch-surfing with friends. Sources say the insurance agent is allowed to visit her £70,000 Punta Gorda residence for evening meals because she has nowhere else to stay, though it remains unclear why she cannot stay overnight.

Case unsettles neighbourhood

The case has unsettled her quiet neighbourhood, where Nummerdor - reportedly currently barred from seeing her two sons - reportedly faces threatening mail from animal lovers. She claims her career is ruined, while police retain her phone.

An insider stated: "Malia believes she has done nothing wrong. She has never broken the law prior to this allegation. She is confident that all of this will be dropped. Malia is angry and upset by it all."

They said her two sons, who are from a different relationship, are now living with their father and she has not been allowed to see them, reports the Sun.

Supporters and investigation details

Supporters have launched a GoFundMe page and offered Facebook backing, with one writing: "Just wanted to say no matter what anyone does in their life, right or wrong, it’s not okay to get blasted on social media for it. Your kids love you. Remember that! That’s what matters."

The investigation began on September 11, when her estranged husband, Erik Nummerdor - who has a grand theft conviction - accused her of the abuse on Facebook. Erik claimed hidden bedroom cameras installed to track stolen coin-jar money caught her partially nude with the dog, named Rancher (referenced as Ranger in court records).

The detective noted: "He stated the bedroom camera was visible, displayed a blinking red light, and was known to household members. The camera recorded continuously in rolling intervals, overwriting older footage."

Footage and court date

After reviewing the footage, the detective added: "I reviewed the images and observed an adult female, identified by Erik as Malia, nude from the waist down, positioned with the dog in a manner consistent with sexual activity."

Nummerdor confirmed her identity but denied wrongdoing, claiming Erik posted the files without permission. The affidavit noted she "could not provide a consistent explanation for what was seen on the camera." Some reports suggest she said she was just petting the dog. Sources confirmed the video dates to late 2025.

Following her smiling mugshot, Sheriff Bill Prumell stated: "There are only a few times in my career that I have been at a loss for words. This is one of those times. I simply cannot comprehend this behaviour. And then to smile in the mugshot? I don’t know what there is to smile about when you’ve been arrested for something as disgusting as this."

Awaiting her October 19 court date, Erik questioned her GoFundMe on Facebook: "How do you become displaced from your home when you own the home? And how do you lose a job that you never had? I know the whole story. These are questions that should be asked."

A source close to the pair observed: "Who knows what the truth is. Is this a bitter divorce battle or a heinous crime? We will have to wait and see." Malia denies the allegations levelled against her.
