Elderly Widow Scammed by Fake Police in Doorbell Footage

An 84-year-old woman from south Wales lost her life savings after being tricked by a man posing as a police officer. Margaret Andrews was one of three elderly victims defrauded by Kye Harwood, who stole more than £22,000 in total.

Harwood, who admitted three charges of fraud by false representation, is serving a two-year sentence in a young offender institution. Doorbell footage captured the moment he approached Mrs Andrews's home, claiming to be a police officer investigating a crime.

Mrs Andrews said she had no reason to doubt his identity. 'I didn't know that he wasn't a real copper,' she said. 'I've worked hard all my life and for him to come and take all my money. It's not fair.'
