Jaiden Hassan-Agard, a 19-year-old drug dealer from Southampton, has been convicted of manslaughter at Winchester Crown Court following the death of 25-year-old Tia Langdon. The tragedy occurred on August 28, 2025, at a flat in Cuckmere Lane, Southampton, when Ms Langdon fell 30 feet from a third-floor balcony while attempting to flee.
Details of the Incident
The court heard that Hassan-Agard accused Ms Langdon and another woman of stealing drugs from him. Brandishing two machetes, he subjected the pair to a sustained campaign of threats, intimidation, and violence. During the ordeal, he assaulted Ms Langdon, breaking her nose. Terrified and trapped, Ms Langdon climbed onto the third-floor balcony in a desperate bid to escape before falling to the ground below. She died in hospital the following day.
Prosecution and Verdict
James Foster, specialist prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, stated: “Tia Langdon lost her life because of the fear, violence and intimidation caused by Jaiden Hassan-Agard’s actions. He subjected Tia and another woman to threats and erratic behaviour, creating a situation which left her feeling as if she had no safe means of escape.” Foster added that while nobody witnessed the precise moment she fell, prosecutors proved that Hassan-Agard’s conduct was a significant cause of the events leading to her death.
Aftermath and Impact
Hassan-Agard compounded the suffering by refusing to seek emergency help and continuing to threaten and control the other victim in the aftermath. The CPS expressed condolences to Ms Langdon’s family, who have endured devastating consequences. The conviction marks a significant outcome in a case that highlights the lethal risks of drug-related intimidation and violence.
