Boy, 16, Bailed After Burnage Murder Arrest

A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in south Manchester has been released on bail, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have confirmed.

Incident Details

Officers from GMP, along with paramedics, were called to a property on Ivylea Road in Burnage at around 8am on Wednesday, July 8, following reports of an assault. The victim, later named as Ann Teague, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The teenager was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. In an update issued on Monday, July 13, a GMP spokesperson said he has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police Investigation

Detective Inspector Sean Mcfadden from GMP's Manchester Criminal Investigation Department said: "We understand this will have caused some local concern around the community, but I want to reassure you we believe this to be an isolated incident. We currently have a boy in custody and we ask people to not speculate as we continue our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident. My thoughts remain with the victim's family and friends as they navigate through this tragic loss. They continue to be supported by our specialist officers."

Witnesses reported a large police presence at the house throughout the day following the incident.
