Woman Denies Stalking and Revenge Porn Charges After Alleged Coercive Campaign

A court has heard allegations that a woman faked a pregnancy, threatened to discard her ex-lover's wedding ring, and bombarded him with messages following the end of their relationship. Lisa Roberts, aged 37, is accused of stalking and distributing an intimate video of her victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons.

Allegations of Controlling and Coercive Behaviour

Magistrates in Mold were informed that, over a six-month period from December 2023 to June 2024, Roberts engaged in what prosecutors described as 'controlling and coercive behaviour' towards her boyfriend. The allegations include repeatedly accusing him of infidelity, monitoring his mobile phone and social media accounts, preventing him from visiting relatives, and threatening to harm both his son and herself when he terminated the relationship.

Escalation of Harassment Campaign

Subsequently, between June 2024 and January of the following year, it is claimed that Roberts intensified her actions. She allegedly flooded her ex-partner with messages across social media platforms, WhatsApp, and emails. Further accusations involve her taking his wedding ring and threatening to throw it away, appearing uninvited at his home and his son's school, making malicious reports to his employer, and even contacting the church on the day of his son's Holy Communion.

Roberts is also charged with assaulting her former partner, threatening self-harm, and pretending to be pregnant with his child in social media posts, which prosecutors say caused him 'serious alarm or distress.' On June 8, 2024, she is accused of sharing an 'intimate' film of her ex-boyfriend without his consent.

Court Proceedings and Bail Granted

Today, blonde Roberts, a resident of Connah's Quay in North Wales, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court and denied three charges: coercive and controlling behaviour, stalking, and sharing the 'humiliating' film. She faces a trial at Mold Crown Court after pleading not guilty to these allegations, which include stalking, coercive control, and revenge porn charges.

Adam Warner, prosecuting, stated: 'The Crown's position is these matters are not suitable for summary trial. There's an extremely large amount of material in this case.' Magistrates agreed the case was too serious for them to handle and granted Roberts unconditional bail. She appeared in court dressed in smart black trousers and a pin-stripe shirt.

The chairman of the bench ordered Roberts to appear before Mold Crown Court on March 20 for further proceedings. The case highlights ongoing legal concerns around digital harassment and intimate image abuse in relationships.
