Commuters travelling out of London Waterloo are facing severe disruption this evening as a police incident has forced the closure of some lines.
Police are currently at the scene of an incident between Woking and Brookwood. Services have been brought to a standstill along the stretch of the railway, with delays of up to 90 minutes expected.
All Lines Closed
All lines are currently closed, with services between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids among those affected. Passengers travelling between Woking and Basingstoke have been warned that trains could be cancelled, severely delayed or routes altered.
The disruption is expected to cause significant problems for passengers heading out of the capital during the evening rush hour, with knock-on delays likely across affected services.
Rush-Hour Overcrowding
It is understood rush hour overcrowding at Wimbledon station was so severe that passengers were being stopped from going down to platforms.
Major disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day. The nature of the police incident has not yet been confirmed.
Emergency services have been contacted for comment.
