A man accused of a mass stabbing on a Cambridgeshire train and a series of knife attacks in Peterborough has failed to attend his court hearing. Anthony Williams, 32, did not appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, where a provisional trial date was set for 22 June 2026.
Williams is charged with attempting to murder 10 people on an LNER service from Doncaster to London on 1 November. The attack began shortly after the train left Peterborough station, prompting passengers to pull emergency alarms. Train driver Andrew Johnson, a former Royal Navy serviceman, contacted a signaller and requested an unscheduled stop at Huntingdon station.
Among the victims on the train was Samir Zitouni, a train crew member who was left in a critical condition with multiple injuries after being credited with helping to save lives. Williams is also accused of attempting to murder a 17-year-old on a DLR train at Pontoon Dock in east London, as well as several separate incidents on 31 October.
These include the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man, William Ogelby, both in Peterborough. He is further charged with the attempted wounding of Dawid Taborski, affray at a barbershop, and theft of a pack of knives from an Asda store. Williams has been remanded into custody following his arrest in Huntingdon.
Cambridgeshire Police has commissioned an internal review of events prior to the mass stabbing on the LNER train service.
