Victim Identified

Junior Slater, from Clayton le Woods, Lancashire, has been formally named by police as the youngster who was pulled from the water at approximately 7:50 PM on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. Emergency services had been called shortly after 2:00 PM following reports of a boy in difficulty while swimming with companions near Ribchester.

Search and Rescue Operation

A large-scale search was launched, involving officers from Lancashire Police’s underwater search unit, alongside crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. The North West Ambulance Service also provided critical support during the operation.
