Tinder Attacker Jailed for Violent Staffordshire Assault

A 37-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping one woman and sexually assaulting another after meeting them through the dating app Tinder. Patrick Nevin is already serving a five-and-a-half-year sentence for a similar attack on a third woman.

The assaults occurred over an 11-day period in July 2014. Nevin used Tinder to contact the women, then drove them to remote locations in County Meath before attacking them. The court heard that on 12 July 2014, he raped a woman who had expressed no interest in a sexual relationship.

Four days later, Nevin sexually assaulted a 27-year-old woman over a prolonged period in another secluded area. He was previously convicted for assaulting a foreign student on 23 July 2014.

The judge described the attacks as pre-meditated, predatory, and callous, noting that Nevin exploited the women's trust by using the app. She imposed a 14-year sentence for rape, suspending the final two years, and an eight-year term for sexual assault. Upon release, Nevin will be supervised by the probation service for five years.
