Star Chef Quits David Beckham's Favourite Dorian Restaurant

Max Coen, the celebrated chef behind the Michelin-starred bistro Dorian in Notting Hill, has resigned after four years at the helm. The restaurant, a favourite among celebrities including Sir David Beckham and Rita Ora, is known for its French-inspired interiors, caviar rosti, and steak.

Departure Announcement

In a social media post, Coen wrote: 'After four years I have decided to step down from my executive role at Dorian. I could never have dreamed of shaping, building, and opening the restaurant that Dorian is today. The team I brought together, the energy and soul we built and the food we created are things I’ll keep with me forever.'

Coen had been leading the kitchen since Dorian opened in 2022 by Australian entrepreneur Chris D’Sylva. The two quickly became business partners as the restaurant gained acclaim, earning a Michelin star in 2024.

Owner's Previous Controversy

D’Sylva faced controversy last year when he criticised influencers for turning his other restaurant, Tuna Fight Club, into 'entertainment' for 'social currency.' He planned to reduce TikTok crowds at the venue, which went viral for transporting £13,000 worth of whole tuna for customers to eat raw. D’Sylva also runs Eel Sushi, a 12-seat sushi bar across from Dorian.
