A coroner has concluded the inquest into the tragic death of a 19-year-old man who was killed after lying down in the road in the path of an oncoming lorry.
The incident occurred on the A47 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, on the evening of 25th February this year. Louie Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services.
Assistant coroner for Cambridgeshire, Simon Milburn, officially recorded a conclusion of death as a result of a road traffic collision during the hearing at Lawrence Court in Huntingdon.
The Fateful Incident
Details presented to the inquest revealed the harrowing sequence of events. The driver of the heavy goods vehicle reported seeing a person, later identified as Louie Morgan, "lying on the road" directly in his path.
Despite the driver's immediate and desperate attempts to avoid a collision, he was unable to stop in time. The circumstances that led the teenager to be on the road remain unclear.
Emergency Response
Police and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service were swiftly dispatched to the scene on the A47, a major dual carriageway. Tragically, nothing could be done to save Louie, and he was declared deceased shortly after their arrival.
The coroner extended his deepest condolences to Louie's family and friends, acknowledging the profound and devastating loss of a young life.
