A murder investigation has been launched after a 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a car park in Bury, Greater Manchester. Police believe the attack, which occurred just before 9pm on Friday, August 1, was targeted.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds at the Powerleague football complex car park, adjacent to Bury College on Market Street, and died later from his injuries. No arrests have been made, and several crime scenes remain in place, including at Valley Mill Lane, where a forensic tent was erected.
Residents reported hearing screams in the Valley Mill Lane area, approximately half a mile from the stabbing. One neighbour described the scene as 'horrendous', stating they would never forget the screams. Another resident recalled a distressed woman, believed to be the victim's mother, arriving at the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton of Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team said: 'We believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat.' He appealed for witnesses and information, urging anyone with knowledge to contact police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
