Greater Manchester Police officers discovered a 17-year-old boy hiding inside a wheelie bin in Farnworth, Bolton, following reports of an alleged attempted burglary at Ullswater Drive in the early hours of 24 October.
Officers Respond to Disturbance Report
Police were dispatched to Ullswater Drive at 3:50am after receiving reports of a disturbance in the area. Upon arrival, officers established that a group had attempted to break into a garden shed and steal items.
Following a foot chase and searches of the surrounding area, officers uncovered the teenager concealed inside a green wheelie bin lying on the ground. Bodycam footage released by the force shows an officer illuminating the bin, from which a pair of feet can clearly be seen sticking out.
Arrests and Bail
The boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary, while a 16-year-old girl was also detained on suspicion of attempted burglary. Both have since been released on bail as enquiries continue to identify and locate others believed to be involved in the incident.
Sergeant Emily Fogg said: "The boy clearly did a rubbish job of hiding from our neighbourhood officers. Our policing teams are committed to rooting out criminality in our communities and will continue to seek justice for victims of this invasive crime."
