A tragic shooting incident in Sydney's southwest has left one man dead and four others injured, prompting a police investigation. The events unfolded on Tuesday evening, May 19, when authorities were alerted to the situation.
Details of the Incident
Police were called to Liverpool Hospital at approximately 8:30 PM after reports that two men, aged 28 and 32, had arrived with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, the 28-year-old succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after. He has not yet been formally identified. The 32-year-old remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition, having sustained a neck injury.
At around 8:40 PM, two additional men, aged 23 and 22, presented themselves at Fairfield Hospital in serious conditions. The 23-year-old is being treated for a gunshot wound to the neck, while the 22-year-old has a shoulder injury. Both have since been transferred to other hospitals for further care.
Approximately an hour later, at 9:50 PM, a 19-year-old man arrived at Liverpool Hospital with an arm injury. He is currently in stable condition.
Crime Scene Investigation
Police have established a crime scene at a residence on Arbutus Street in Canley Heights, where it is believed the shooting occurred earlier in the night. Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command, with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are working to determine the sequence of events and identify any suspects.
