Elizabeth Smart, a survivor of a teenage abduction, has expressed hope that Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie, could still be alive more than four months after her disappearance. Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Arizona home on February 1, triggering a nationwide search. However, no suspect has been identified, and there is no conclusive evidence regarding her current status.
Hope from a Survivor
Smart, who was abducted at age 14 and held captive for nine months, told CNN that there are cases where victims have returned alive after many years. She emphasized the importance of continuing the search for Guthrie, stating, 'She could absolutely still be alive.' Investigators have uncovered DNA evidence, surveillance footage of a masked individual, and blood on Guthrie's porch, leading them to believe she was taken from her home in the middle of the night.
Reward for Information
Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have offered a $1 million reward for any information that leads to the recovery of their mother. The family remains hopeful and is urging the public to come forward with any details that might assist in the investigation.
