Scottish Schools Shut and Evacuated After Bomb Threat Hoax
Scottish Schools Shut After Bomb Threat Hoax

Schools across Scotland have been closed and evacuated following a bomb threat on Monday morning, with Police Scotland treating the incident as a hoax.

A number of schools in Edinburgh, Fife and South Lanarkshire were affected. Staff have reportedly been told that buildings would be closing until further notice, and those working during in-service days have been instructed to go home.

Pupils Not Yet Returned

Pupils have not returned to classrooms yet following the October break, which means the closures come as schools were preparing to reopen.

Police Scotland released a statement saying: "We are aware of threatening messages being sent to a number of schools across Scotland. These are being treated as a hoax and officers are investigating."

Ongoing Investigation

The closures affect schools in at least three local authority areas, and the investigation is ongoing as officers work to establish the source of the threatening messages.

Further updates are expected as the situation develops, with schools remaining closed until further notice.
