St Cuthbert's Roman Catholic High School in Rochdale was evacuated this morning after receiving a bomb threat. The school on Shaw Road launched emergency procedures as a precautionary measure, and all school buildings were cleared.
Police respond to suspicious call
Units from Greater Manchester Police attended the scene. Officers said the call was likely a hoax, and an assessment indicated no threat or danger to anyone present. The circumstances of the call are under investigation.
All children and staff were safe and accounted for, and parents and carers were notified immediately. They were allowed to collect their children or give consent for them to travel home.
School to reopen Monday
Specialist security operatives will conduct a full sweep of the building this afternoon to determine if further action is needed. The school is expected to open as normal on Monday, 19 October.
A spokesperson for St Cuthbert's said: "Earlier this morning staff at St Cuthbert's RC Secondary School in Rochdale received a communication detailing a possible bomb threat to the premises."
The spokesperson added: "We'd also urge people to avoid speculation on social media - particularly regarding false rumours, such as any referring to intruders or weapons being present on school premises."
