A recent flight turned into a nightmare for one passenger who found themselves seated next to a woman who was getting far too comfortable. The traveller took to Reddit to share their horror after the woman began picking dead skin off her bare feet mid-flight.
Shameless behaviour in the skies
Pictures posted online show the shameless passenger resting one foot on her opposite knee while using both hands to casually pick at her toes. The Reddit thread quickly garnered hundreds of comments, with many expressing outrage and suggesting they would have publicly shamed the woman.
One user commented: 'I'm normally pretty level-headed but good lord I would have lost my mind on her. What the hell is wrong with people?' Another added: 'Why are there SO many people with their feet out lately like WTF. I thought after Covid we collectively would be more conscious of gross behaviours but I guess not.'
Calls for public shaming
Many commenters insisted that such behaviour should be called out publicly. One wrote: 'We need to normalise public shaming. Otherwise we're going to continue seeing sh*t like this. Teach your kids to have respect for others in the space they share with everyone else, or you're a sh**ty parent.' Another suggested: 'I'd call the flight attendant and gesture towards the foot picker.'
Others expressed disbelief at the lack of consideration. 'It amazes me that people can't stop being disgusting for a couple of hours at a time. There must be someplace where this kind of s**t in public is considered OK but it's not somewhere I've been,' one user revealed.
Reactions and similar experiences
Some questioned whether the woman's appearance mattered, but one man quickly interjected: 'No level of attraction makes up for this behaviour. Sincerely, a woman enjoyer.' Meanwhile, others shared their own encounters with inconsiderate travellers. One person recalled: 'My ex did this in bed every night. It would literally wake me up. I would gag, he thought it was funny. So disgusting and volatile, especially doing it in public.'
Another added: 'Reminds me of one time at Disney while waiting for a show someone next to my dad started clipping their toe nails... Some people leave their house and act like it's their first day on Earth.' A third shared: 'I had to tell off a friend who I was driving around not to pick her feet in my car. She had the audacity to make a face and tsk at me! People like this are gross.'
The incident has reignited debates about airplane etiquette and the need for passengers to respect shared spaces. As one user summed up: 'People have gotten SO damn gross on airplanes these days. You are NOT at home.'
