Mystery in NYC: Groups Emerge from Brooklyn Sewer Manholes

Authorities in New York are investigating a bizarre series of events after surveillance footage captured seven individuals emerging from a sewer manhole in Brooklyn's Gravesend neighbourhood early Friday morning.

Incident Details

The footage, recorded around 2 a.m., shows the group removing a manhole cover and climbing out of the sewer system one by one. Some of the individuals appeared to be wearing specialist gear, including waders, gloves, and heavy-duty boots. After emerging, they quickly changed clothes and departed in waiting vehicles.

Approximately one hour earlier, at around 1 a.m., a separate group of eight people was observed entering and later exiting a sewer manhole in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn.

Investigation Underway

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently investigating both incidents to determine if they are connected. However, the reason for the individuals being underground remains unknown.

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a warning, stating that entering the sewer system is illegal and highly dangerous. Hazards include noxious gases, unstable conditions, and other potential risks to safety.

Authorities are appealing for any information from the public that might help solve this mystery.
