The Westminster community has been left reeling after a mother was found brutally murdered in her own home in what police are treating as a domestic homicide.
Melissa Belshaw, a beloved mum, was discovered with multiple sharp-force injuries at a residential property on Saturday afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the scene following concerned calls from neighbours, but tragically, she was pronounced dead at the location.
Metropolitan Police have confirmed a 47-year-old man, believed to be known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as detectives continue their investigation into this horrific incident.
Community in Mourning
Neighbours described Melissa as a "kind and caring mother" who was always smiling. The tight-knit community has been left shattered by the violent nature of her death, with many leaving floral tributes near the cordoned-off property.
One distraught neighbour told reporters: "She was such a lovely person. Always helping others and completely devoted to her family. We can't believe something so terrible could happen here."
Police Investigation Ongoing
Forensic teams have been conducting extensive searches at the property while family liaison officers are supporting Melissa's grieving relatives. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley leading the investigation stated: "This appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the wider public."
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the events leading up to Saturday afternoon to come forward and assist with their inquiries.
