Mother Admits to Violent Assault, Claims She Was Protecting Her Child

A 41-year-old mother from Angle Vale has confessed to kicking another woman in the head during a violent brawl outside the Munno Para Shopping Centre in Adelaide. The incident, which occurred at approximately 6pm on January 29 this year, involved the accused and two 14-year-old girls allegedly assaulting a 39-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter.

Police reports indicate that both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and required hospital treatment. The injured mother disclosed to 7News that she suffered a head wound necessitating six stitches. Footage of the altercation, released by the news outlet, appears to depict the trio repeatedly kicking and striking the 39-year-old mother while she was on the ground, unable to stand.

Accused Mother Defends Actions Outside Court

Outside Elizabeth Magistrates’ Court on Friday, the 41-year-old accused openly admitted to reporters that she had kicked the victim. "Yes, I did kick her (but) I kicked her underneath, (and) I don't think I kicked her that hard," she stated. She further justified her actions by claiming she was "sticking up for my children over this bullying."

The accused mother expressed no remorse, asserting, "I'm not embarrassed. I'm supporting and sticking up for my children." She refused to apologise, emphasising her frustration with ongoing bullying issues. "It's really bullying and there's a lot of bullying going around," she said. "I'm sorry, but mothers need to pull their kids up, because I'm telling you now, I'm a mother that's had enough, okay."

Legal Proceedings and Investigation Details

During the altercation, the 41-year-old was heard yelling at the victim to "get off my f***ing daughter," before allegedly delivering the kick to the head. The accused, along with the two teenage girls—at least one of whom is believed to be her daughter—were arrested and charged with assault and assault causing harm.

The teenagers appeared at Elizabeth Youth Court on the same day, while the 41-year-old has requested an adjournment to seek legal advice. The case is scheduled to return to court in April. Authorities have urged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers.
