A missing father has been tragically found dead in a car in Oldham, bringing a heartbreaking conclusion to a days-long search.
Christopher Neary, 58, was reported missing last Thursday after he was last seen by a neighbour. He had left his flat on Lees New Road in the Oldham area at approximately 6.55pm, and his family believed he was travelling in his silver Ford Focus.
On Monday night, police, paramedics, and fire crews were alerted to a car that had left the carriageway off Lees New Road, near the junction with Abbey Hills Road. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a man was found dead inside the vehicle, and he has since been identified as Mr Neary.
Images from the scene on Tuesday revealed a gap in the hedgerow at the side of the road, where the vehicle had gone down an embankment. The incident has left the local community in shock.
