Man Receives Jail Term for Grossly Indecent Act at Family Restaurant

A South Australian man has been imprisoned after being recorded on surveillance footage engaging in a sexual act with his then-girlfriend at a Hungry Jacks restaurant, situated close to a children's playground. Benjamin Nona-Wilson, aged 34 from Aberfoyle Park, was sentenced to six months and 16 days behind bars, with the term backdated to November 19, 2025.

Explicit CCTV Footage Leads to Charges

The incident occurred at the Seaford outlet in Adelaide, where CCTV cameras captured Kayla Parry performing oral sex on Nona-Wilson in a restaurant booth. Prosecutors detailed that the footage clearly showed Nona-Wilson was exposed and Parry's head was observed moving up and down during the act, which lasted up to ten minutes.

According to reports from The Advertiser, the prosecution informed Magistrate Joanna Martin that several adults and children were in the vicinity at the time. Approximately seven staff members were on duty, including five individuals under the age of 18, and three other adults were nearby when the incident unfolded.

Magistrate Denies Claims of Privacy

During the sentencing hearing on Friday, Magistrate Martin strongly rejected any suggestion that the act was intended to be private, describing such claims as somewhat ludicrous. She emphasized the public nature of the offense, stating, It was an embarrassment to the public. Anyone coming into that store could have seen what was happening.

The magistrate also highlighted the presence of children, noting, I do note that there were children present who were working on that day. That is not something that any child should be exposed to in a public place. Despite acknowledging Nona-Wilson's hopes for rehabilitation, she underscored the severity of conducting such an act in a family-oriented environment.

Co-Defendant Receives Good Behaviour Bond

Kayla Parry, a mother-of-three and netball player, pleaded guilty to the same offense and was dealt with separately in June 2025. She received a two-year good behaviour bond without a conviction recorded. During her sentencing, Magistrate Kylie Schulz recognized the seriousness of Parry's actions but commended her efforts toward rehabilitation.

Magistrate Schulz pointed to Parry's plans for further education and involvement in a healthcare plan as indicators of good prospects of rehabilitation. She concluded that recording a conviction would be disproportionate, given Parry's lack of prior offending and the context of what she described as an anti-social relationship.

Legal Proceedings and Background

Nona-Wilson had already been in custody related to other charges when he pleaded guilty to engaging in a grossly indecent act. The prosecution detailed that he and Parry were seated next to each other with Nona-Wilson exposed and erect, while Parry performed the oral sex act.

The case has drawn attention to issues of public decency and the protection of minors in commercial spaces. The Daily Mail has reached out to Hungry Jacks for comment regarding the incident, but no statement has been publicly released at this time.

This sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the legal consequences for indecent behavior in public settings, particularly when it risks exposure to children and violates community standards of conduct.
