A man moving into a new house was stunned to discover a kitten trapped inside the walls after hearing scratching and meowing sounds. The homeowner shared his story online, recounting how he initially searched the attic and crawl space but found nothing. After two days of persistent cries, he woke up at dawn and pressed his ear against the wall, pinpointing the sound to an outer wall.
Rescue Mission
Armed with a pocket knife, he carefully cut into the drywall where there was already a scratch in the paint. He said, “It’s an old house so there’s a big wooden frame structure behind the drywall, so I couldn’t get far enough to even see or feel properly. Suddenly I heard some loud meowing and I started cutting more. I saw a little paw come up so I put the knife away to not injure it.” Moments later, he squeezed his hand through the opening and pulled out a tiny trapped kitten using just his fingertips.
Kitten Now Safe
Thankfully, the kitten survived the ordeal and is now safe and recovering. He said, “She’s fed, hydrated, bathed, and resting well currently.” After sharing his story on Reddit, the man asked users to send name suggestions. One user suggested “Void,” referencing both a black cat and the space inside a wall. Another proposed “Murray,” as “mur” means wall in French. A third user joked, “He’s the Cat of Amontillado.”
