Sussex Man Faces Serious Sexual Offence Charges After Teenage Girls Allegedly Held Captive

A 20-year-old man from Worthing, West Sussex, has been formally charged with multiple rape and sexual offences following a disturbing incident where two teenage girls were allegedly found being held against their will in a vehicle. Tarek Miah is accused of four counts of rape and a series of other sexual assaults, including causing a child to watch a sexual act and false imprisonment, relating to three separate victims.

Arrest and Charges Following Police Report

Miah was arrested on February 7 after Sussex Police received a report that two teenage girls were being held captive in a car in the small town of Midhurst. The investigation has since expanded to include allegations of another non-recent sexual offence involving a third girl, broadening the scope of the case. He is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at Crawley Magistrates Court today to face these serious charges.

Police Response and Community Reassurance Efforts

In response to the incident, Sussex Police have announced additional police patrols across the area, specifically in Midhurst and Durrington, to reassure residents and enhance public safety. Chief Inspector Adam McCaig emphasized the seriousness with which the reports are being taken, stating, 'We understand the public's concerns about these offences, and we have taken the reports extremely seriously. A man was arrested and has been charged in connection with two separate investigations.'

All three victims are receiving support from specialist officers, highlighting the police's commitment to victim care in such sensitive cases. The authorities have also encouraged anyone impacted by incidents of rape or sexual offences to come forward and report it to Sussex Police, underscoring the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in tackling such crimes.
