West Yorkshire Police said the fatal collision took place just two minutes after the chase was authorised. The vehicle involved was a black Vauxhall Corsa.
Charges and Court Appearance
Harry Gyamsie-Perah, 19, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance, failing to stop after a road accident, and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Investigation and Appeal
The collision is also being investigated by the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). West Yorkshire Police said the 19-year-old identifies himself as "black African including black British".
A statement from the force reads: "The incident occurred at 9.52am on Beckett Street when a black Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a 36-year-old pedestrian who later died in hospital. A pursuit of the Corsa had been authorised a short time before the collision and the Independent Office for Police Conduct are independently investigating the circumstances of that pursuit. At least two people are understood to have been in the vehicle at the time of the collision and detectives from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are urging any occupants of the vehicle to do the right thing and come forward to assist with their enquiries."
Detectives are also continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any relevant dashcam footage to make contact.
