A community in Louisville, Kentucky, has been left reeling after a shocking and brazen assault on an elderly woman in her own driveway. The incident, which was captured on a neighbour's security camera, has led to the arrest of a teenage boy.
The Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a call reporting a sexual assault in the Poplar Level Road area. The victim, an 81-year-old woman, was reportedly getting out of her car when she was approached from behind by a young male.
The CCTV footage shows the suspect, since identified as a 16-year-old, allegedly grabbing the woman in a sexual manner before fleeing the scene on foot. The quick-thinking neighbour who provided the footage was crucial in helping authorities identify the perpetrator.
Following the circulation of the images and a public appeal, the Jefferson County Public Schools system confirmed the individual was one of their students. This led to the teenager's swift identification and subsequent arrest at his home without incident.
The suspect has been charged with a Class D Felony count of Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree. Due to his age, his identity has not been publicly released. He is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility.
