Jamie Laing has faced criticism after posting a video of his six-month-old son Ziggy travelling in a car without being properly secured. The clip, which was part of a longer montage celebrating six months since Ziggy's birth, showed Jamie's wife Sophie Habboo, 31, cradling the baby while sitting in the back of a vehicle. Neither Ziggy nor Sophie appeared to be wearing seat belts, and the infant was not in a car seat or baby seat.
UK Car Seat Regulations
In the United Kingdom, children must use an approved car seat with an internal harness until they reach 12 years old or 135 cm tall. However, government guidelines state that children under three may travel without a car seat in a taxi if the driver does not provide one, provided they sit in the rear seat. It is unclear whether the family was using a taxi in the video.
Response to Criticism
After viewers pointed out the safety lapse, Jamie deleted the segment and re-uploaded the montage without it. One commenter wrote: "Nice to see you have removed the irresponsible clip... It would be wise to address the elephant in the room and maybe admit you have been irresponsible." Another added: "Your baby has no voice to question you when you travel without a baby seat OR a seatbelt." A representative for Jamie has been contacted for comment.
Family Holiday and Previous Controversy
Earlier this month, Sophie shared sun-soaked snaps from their first family holiday, featuring poolside lounging and dining with friends. The post included a shirtless Jamie cradling Ziggy in a pool. This incident follows a previous controversy where Sophie revealed Jamie had tearfully begged for sex just three weeks after she gave birth, despite her having stitches and being advised against it. The couple discussed the matter on their NewParents podcast, with Sophie recalling Jamie's insistence that their lack of intimacy was "not normal."
