A former kindergarten teacher at an Indianapolis Christian school has admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student. Torrie Lemon, 24, pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of felony child seduction. The relationship, which began in January 2025, was exposed last year, leading to her arrest and eventual guilty plea.
Details of the Relationship
According to police documents, Lemon's inappropriate conduct included sexual encounters on school grounds, at her apartment, and at the victim's home. The victim told authorities that what started as a friendship quickly escalated when Lemon began discussing her attraction to women and making sexual jokes. The teen stated she never intended for the relationship to become sexual, acknowledging they both knew it was wrong.
Court documents reveal that Lemon first kissed the victim during a school trip to Wabash, Indiana. The pair were allowed to have sleepovers at the victim's house, where they allegedly shared a pullout couch. Lemon sent the teen numerous messages, some referencing 'climaxing' and 'laying in bed.' One text read, 'I love you more than I can describe. I love my girl. Thank you for an amazing night and morning.'
Parental Awareness
The victim's parents told police they noticed Lemon spending increasing time with their daughter but were unaware of the relationship's full nature. The mother observed that the friendship progressed rapidly, with Lemon bringing flowers and gifts within weeks. The father acknowledged being aware of physical affection like kissing, hugging, and cuddling but did not want Lemon fired. The victim reportedly asked her father about Indiana's age of consent laws.
School Response and Sentencing
Colonial Christian School became aware of the misconduct on April 10, 2025, and immediately placed Lemon on leave, contacted child services and police, and terminated her employment. The school fully cooperated with authorities.
Lemon's affair was uncovered during a school trip to South Carolina when another student found photos of the pair kissing on the victim's phone and informed a staff member. Lemon admitted to South Carolina police that she was 'having an inappropriate relationship with a student from our school.' She was officially charged on June 30, 2025.
In court, Lemon was sentenced to serve 40 days in jail as part of a four-year sentence, followed by 1,420 days of probation. The case has drawn attention to the serious consequences of educator misconduct and the vulnerabilities of students.
