A courageous father has been hailed a hero after confronting armed burglars who broke into his family home in Albion, leaving his wife and children traumatised.
Giuseppe Andreula, 37, was woken in the early hours by the sound of masked intruders smashing through his front door. Armed with a knife and a crowbar, the assailants demanded money and valuables.
"I thought they were going to kill us," Andreula recounted. "I had to protect my family—I didn’t care what happened to me."
In a desperate struggle, Andreula fought back against the attackers, sustaining injuries but managing to force them out of the house. His wife and two young children were unharmed but left deeply shaken.
Police are now hunting for the suspects, described as two men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas. Detectives have urged anyone with information to come forward.
"This was a terrifying ordeal for the family," a police spokesperson said. "We commend Mr. Andreula’s bravery while reminding the public not to confront intruders directly."
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with neighbours expressing shock over the violent break-in.
