In a dramatic turn of events in north Belfast, heroic bystanders intervened to subdue a man following a stabbing incident that left another man seriously injured. The incident occurred on Kinnaird Avenue at approximately 10:30 PM on Monday, 8th June, prompting an immediate response from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

A local resident described the scene as "chaos" as disturbing videos circulated online, appearing to show a man being stabbed multiple times in the head. In the footage, two bystanders can be seen stepping in to assist the injured man on the ground, before informing arriving police officers that the attacker was "trying to cut his head off."

An eyewitness told the Belfast Telegraph that "three men, one armed with a hurl, got the fella with the knife off the victim." Their quick actions likely prevented further harm and allowed police to apprehend the suspect swiftly.

The PSNI confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A significant police presence remains in the area, with cordons in place as investigations continue.

A PSNI spokesperson stated: "Police in north Belfast are currently in attendance at Kinnaird Avenue following the report of a stabbing incident shortly after 10.30pm on Monday 8th June. A man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is in police custody while a second man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries."

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area to contact them at Tennent Street on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1654 08/06/26.
