Four cars have been left with smashed windows and fire damage after an early hours blaze in Farnworth. Police and firefighters were called to Plodder Lane, close to Royal Bolton Hospital, shortly after 2.30am on Wednesday (October 21).
A house was sealed off by police as investigations got underway, with crime scene investigators working at the scene this morning. The Manchester Evening News attended the scene on Wednesday, where damage to four vehicles could be seen.
Police cordon and forensic investigation
A police cordon was in place earlier in the day but has since been removed, with officers leaving the scene. Forensics at the scene included a CSI van, and damage to cars on driveways was visible.
One neighbour told the MEN he had not realised anything had happened until he came out of his front door to look. He said the incident had been so quiet that he had heard nothing, and was visibly shocked when he saw what had happened.
Residents express shock and distance
Another resident said they did not know who lived in the house and described the street as one where neighbours were not particularly close.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services are responding to a vehicle fire on Plodder Lane, Farnworth that was reported at 2:38am this morning (October 21). Enquiries are ongoing.”
