Four arrested after police officer shot in foot in Nottingham

Four people have been arrested after a police officer was shot in the foot on a street in Nottingham city centre. The officer was attacked after approaching two suspects at a bus stop on Angel Row at 4.50am on Sunday, according to Nottinghamshire Police.

Footage captured at the scene and shared on social media appears to show the officer being tended to by colleagues outside a Taco Bell fast food restaurant. In the video, a witness is heard saying: 'Oh my days, they shot him, bro.'

Arrests Made Across Nottingham

Three occupants of a car were arrested after being stopped in the Radford area of Nottingham yesterday evening. A 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The two others, a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

This morning, a 30-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The four suspects remain in police custody and are currently being questioned by police.

Officer's Condition and Police Response

The injured officer is still in hospital and his condition is stable, the force confirmed this morning.

Nottinghamshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas said: 'A team of experienced detectives continues to work tirelessly to establish exactly what happened before, during and after this appalling incident.'

'I am pleased that four arrests have now been made and hope this provides some reassurance to the public as those detained are questioned in connection with the discharge of the firearm.'

She added: 'The injured officer continues to recover in hospital and is receiving support from colleagues and loved ones. We ask that his privacy is respected at this time. Our thoughts remain with him, and with his family, friends and colleagues, who have all been affected by this deeply shocking incident.'
