Authorities in Houston are investigating the deaths of a family of four found inside their million-dollar home in the upscale River Oaks neighborhood. The victims, identified as a mother, father, and two children, were discovered on Monday evening after a welfare check was requested.
Police Response
The Houston Police Department received a call at approximately 5:26 p.m. from a babysitter and a relative of one of the parents, who expressed concern after not hearing from the family. Officers arrived at the residence in the 2100-block of Kingston Street and found the four individuals deceased inside the home.
Investigation
Preliminary evidence suggests the incident was a murder-suicide, according to police. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, pending notification of next of kin. At a press conference, police declined to confirm reports from neighbors that the mother was pregnant.
Neighbors described the tragedy as shocking and unprecedented. One resident told KHOU11: 'It's very sad, I shake for the little kids and the family. We don't know all the details, but it's just a tragedy.' Another neighbor told Click2Houston: 'I've lived in this neighborhood for 19 years and never seen anything like this. We haven't had these kind of tragedies. We don't have robberies. We have incredible constables in this neighborhood, but it's very sad.'
