Essex Police have launched an urgent manhunt for an asylum seeker following the discovery of a body at a historic Essex hotel, sparking a major investigation that has left the local community in shock.
Victim Found at The Bell Hotel
Emergency services were called to The Bell Hotel in Epping High Street on Tuesday afternoon after reports of concerns for a person's welfare. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a man, believed to be a staff member at the establishment.
While formal identification is still pending, police have confirmed they are treating the death as suspicious and have launched a murder investigation. The scene remains cordoned off as forensic teams continue their examination of the premises.
Intensive Search for Suspect
Authorities are urgently seeking Kebatu Alami, a 31-year-old asylum seeker who was reportedly residing at the hotel. Alami is described as approximately 5ft 10ins tall with short black hair and was last seen wearing a black jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby, leading the investigation, stated: "We are working tirelessly to locate Alami and urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact us immediately. We believe he may have crucial information that could assist our investigation."
