Electrician Clifton George has been found guilty of murdering his partner, Annabel Rook, after stabbing her 31 times during a heated argument at their east London home. The brutal attack occurred on the evening of 3 June 2026, when Ms Rook, 46, informed George, 45, that she wished to end their decade-long relationship.
The Fatal Attack
According to prosecutors, George flew into a murderous rage upon hearing Ms Rook's decision. He armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed her repeatedly, inflicting 31 wounds. After the killing, George deliberately caused a gas explosion that ripped through their property in Stoke Newington, endangering neighbours and emergency services.
Defence Rejected
George denied murder, claiming he had lost self-control due to provocation. However, the judge dismissed this defence, citing overwhelming evidence of his aggressive and bullying behaviour towards Ms Rook throughout their relationship. The jury took just two-and-a-half hours to convict George of murder.
Sentencing is scheduled for 9 June. The case has highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic violence, with campaigners calling for stronger protections for victims.
