Speaking at the ceremony, Beckham expressed his gratitude to his family, calling the achievement 'truly incredible'. He said: 'I’ve always been a dreamer, but I could never have imagined that an honour like this would come to a working-class English soccer player like me.' He also thanked his wife, Lady Victoria Beckham, and their children, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, who attended the event.
Hollywood star Tom Cruise praised Beckham's 20-year career, which saw him become the first English player to win league titles in four countries. Beckham recalled that his first movie date with Victoria was to see Cruise's film Jerry Maguire, calling it a 'full circle moment'.
