Emergency services, including HM Coastguard and ambulance crews, rushed to the scene in Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire, after a child fell from rocks on the Scottish coast. The alarm was received at 7.30pm on Sunday, July 12, and teams arrived to bring the girl to safety. She was swiftly transported to Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, though her current condition has not been disclosed.
Response and Transport
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard stated: "Macduff Coastguard Rescue Team assisted a girl into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service after she was reported to have fallen at Gardenstown at about 7.35pm on July 12." A representative for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: "We received a call on Sunday to attend an incident in Gardenstown. We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one female patient to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital." Photographs from the scene showed multiple emergency service vehicles by the water's edge.
Separate Tragic Incident in Nottinghamshire
In a separate incident, a four-year-old girl died after being struck by a car in Nottinghamshire. Emergency services were called to Nottingham Road in Gotham at 2.28pm on Sunday, July 12. The girl died a short time later in hospital. A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been questioned and bailed.
Police Appeal for Information
Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation and appealing for witnesses. Sergeant Paul Clark said: "This is a deeply tragic incident and our thoughts are with the young girl's loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time. The circumstances are being investigated and we would ask people not to speculate on social media. I would also ask the privacy of the family is respected as they come to terms with what has happened. We’d like to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward, including anyone with dashcam footage which could help our investigation.
