A child has been found with a knife at a primary school in Stoke-on-Trent, prompting police involvement. The incident occurred at Heron Cross Primary School, where staff discovered a small bladed pocket knife in a pupil's bag.
Staffordshire Police were called to the scene, and the school confirmed that 'relevant agencies' have also been contacted. Headteacher Gemma Willdigg wrote to parents on Wednesday, June 10, assuring them that the item was confiscated immediately upon discovery.
This is the second such incident in the area in recent months. In May, police were called to Sandon Primary Academy in Meir after a child brought a kitchen knife to school. Officers attended and spoke with the child's parents on that occasion.
A message from the headteacher stated: 'A prohibited item has been brought into school by a pupil. As soon as staff were made aware, the item, which was a small bladed pocket knife, was immediately confiscated and school procedures were followed.'
The police have since seized the item, and the school is cooperating with authorities to address the situation.
