Cardiff Police Hunt Attacker After Violent Riverside Assault

South Wales Police have issued an urgent public appeal for information following a violent assault and robbery in the Riverside area of Cardiff. The disturbing incident, captured on CCTV, shows a man being punched to the ground and robbed on Tudor Street.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 17 February, at approximately 3:15 AM. The victim was walking along Tudor Street when he was approached and violently assaulted by another individual.

Shocking CCTV footage released by detectives shows the moment the victim is struck in the head, causing him to fall unconscious to the pavement. The assailant then proceeds to rifle through the victim's pockets, stealing his possessions, before callously walking away and leaving the injured man lying in the street.

Police have confirmed the victim was treated for his injuries at the University Hospital of Wales. Fortunately, he has since been discharged from medical care.

Investigating officers are now urging anyone who was in the area at the time, or who recognises the individual from the CCTV footage, to come forward immediately. They are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white van that was seen passing the scene moments after the attack took place.

Detective Constable Ellie Parry of South Wales Police emphasised the seriousness of the incident: "This was a nasty, unprovoked attack which has left the victim extremely shaken. We are appealing for anyone with any information, no matter how small, to contact us."

This alarming event has raised concerns within the local community about safety on the streets of Cardiff. Authorities are assuring residents that a full investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrator.
