A car fled the scene after crashing into a designer clothing store in Newcastle city centre. A vehicle, believed to be a Volkswagen Sharan, smashed into the front of Designer Exchange on Grainger Street at around 4.40am on Monday. The vehicle left the area before police arrived at the scene. No-one is reported to have been injured in the incident.
Damage at the scene
The glass front of the store, which is located near Monument, was shattered into tiny pieces. There was a large amount of glass left inside and outside of the premises. The pictures show the scene on Monday morning.
Police appeal
Northumbria Police say enquiries are ongoing to identify anyone believed to have been involved. They have urged anyone with information, or dashcam footage, to contact them.
