Dramatic dash cam footage has captured the moment a car became airborne and flew over another vehicle during a police pursuit in Wisconsin. The incident occurred when 44-year-old Dewayne Stokes was being pursued by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office due to a felony warrant related to a stolen vehicle.
The Chase and Crash
The footage shows Stokes losing control of his vehicle, driving into a ditch, and launching into the air before crashing. The car soared over a passing vehicle, narrowly missing it, before landing in a field. Following the crash, Stokes attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers, as captured by bodycam footage.
Charges Filed
Stokes was arrested and now faces a series of serious charges, including fleeing and eluding officers, resisting or obstructing officers, felony bail jumping, and first-degree recklessly endangering safety. The sheriff's office confirmed that the warrant was for a stolen vehicle, and the pursuit was initiated to apprehend him.
The incident highlights the dangers of high-speed police chases, which can endanger both the public and law enforcement. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this case, and Stokes is currently in custody awaiting trial.
