A British tourist is fighting for his life after being brutally stabbed in what police are describing as a random attack near New York City's iconic Times Square.
The violent incident occurred on Wednesday evening as the victim was walking along West 41st Street, just moments away from the bustling tourist hub that attracts millions of visitors annually.
Chaotic Scene in Tourist District
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 7:30 PM local time following multiple 911 calls reporting a stabbing in progress. Police sources confirm the victim, whose identity has not been released, sustained multiple stab wounds to his torso and back.
"This appears to be a completely random attack," a police spokesperson stated. "The victim was simply walking down the street when he was approached from behind and stabbed without any prior interaction."
City-Wide Manhunt Underway
Authorities have launched an extensive manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the attack. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed as detectives work to identify the perpetrator.
The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, where he underwent emergency surgery. Hospital officials report he remains in stable but serious condition.
