Investigators have discovered a hidden safe and bones at the Philadelphia home of deceased pornographer Raymond "R.C." Horsch as part of an ongoing probe into seven missing women. The discoveries were made under floorboards and in the backyard of the property in Olney, Philadelphia, with the FBI also involved in the search.
Bones Found in Backyard
Law enforcement sources said bones were unearthed in the backyard of the property on Thursday, prompting the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office to be called in. Experts are working to determine whether the remains belonged to an animal or a human, according to a local station. Teams at the property have also been collecting soil samples and are set to examine the front of the home as well.
Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant not involved in the case, said: "Right now, it looks like soil samples. We saw them going in and taking some samples." He added: "And what they'll do is, they'll do it in different places, and they'll do it at different depths to see if there's any chemicals in there."
Safe Found Inside Home
The teams are also said to have found a safe while removing walls and floors inside the home, though it is not known what was found inside. R.C. Horsch's son Eugene is currently being held on firearm charges as authorities continue to investigate what happened to the missing women.
Following Eugene's arrest in June, investigators found numerous disturbing pieces of potential evidence at the home. These included alleged snuff movies featuring R.C. Horsch, footage of several women, vats of mysterious chemicals, and writings referencing serial killers. An initial investigation of the property found at least one illegal gun, a fake FBI badge, a marijuana growing operation, and five urns containing cremated remains.
Evidence Linked to Missing Women
During another police search, investigators found more than 50 hard drives containing 600,000 images, 70,000 videos, and 10,000 writings and drawings. Police are currently looking through more than one million images found at the home.
Detectives have stated they found images of two missing women after investigating files at the home. Footage of Maribel Frieses and Gabrielle Amarando, last seen in 2018 and 2012 respectively, reportedly appears to show the two women's dead bodies. Blair Tonzelli, last seen in 2023, and Amy McHale, Horsch's ex-wife last seen in 2016, have been named as other missing women connected to the property. The investigation is ongoing.
