A major police search for a missing mother-of-two has ended in tragedy after a body was discovered in a Manchester river.
The discovery was made in the River Irwell on Tuesday afternoon, following an intensive search for 27-year-old Soha Al-Otaibi, who was last seen in the Salford area on Sunday evening.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that while formal identification has not yet been completed, the family of Ms. Al-Otaibi has been informed of the development and are being supported by specialist officers.
Intensive Search Operation
Emergency services, including police divers and mountain rescue teams, had been scouring the area around the River Irwell near New Bridge Street since Ms. Al-Otaibi's disappearance. The search operation involved multiple agencies and specialised equipment.
A police cordon remained in place at the scene on Tuesday evening as investigations continued. Forensic officers were seen conducting a thorough examination of the area where the body was recovered.
Family's Heartbreaking Appeal
Prior to the discovery, Ms. Al-Otaibi's family had made emotional appeals for information about her whereabouts. The 27-year-old was described as a devoted mother to her two young children.
In their earlier appeal, police had expressed particular concern for her welfare, noting that her disappearance was completely out of character.
Officers have thanked the public for their assistance during the search operation and have asked for privacy for the family during this difficult time.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
