A dramatic rescue unfolded in Kalamazoo, Michigan, when a mother trapped by a house fire threw her baby from a second-floor window into the waiting arms of a police officer. The incident, captured on bodycam footage released by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety on Tuesday, May 19, shows the officer calmly instructing the mother to drop the infant.

Heroic Catch

The officer, whose name has not been disclosed, assured the mother he would catch the child, repeatedly saying 'I got it' before the throw. As the baby descended, the officer successfully caught the infant, providing immediate reassurance to the frantic mother. Following the rescue, a ladder was deployed to allow the mother to safely exit the burning building.

No Injuries Reported

Both mother and child were transported to a local hospital for precautionary medical evaluations. Fortunately, neither sustained any injuries from the fire or the rescue. The cause of the fire is under investigation by local authorities.
