Armed police have swarmed a housing estate in Fife following reports of a disturbance. Emergency crews rushed to Byron Street in Methil on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 4.
Incident Details
An alarm was raised around 1.15pm after the force received a report of disturbance. Uniformed cops and firearm officers were among those in attendance. A police presence is understood to still be at the scene as enquiries continue.
Witness Accounts
Videos taken by residents on the street show officers in tactical gear holding rifles parked up outside a neighbouring home. One armed cop is seen staked out in the back garden of one of the properties. Several firearm officers have also been recorded storming up the garden path of one house.
Police Response
The road has been cordoned off by police with cop cars blocking entrances to the street. The nature of the disturbance is not known yet. No arrests have been made at this time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.15pm on Tuesday, 4 August, 2026, we received a report of a disturbance at a property on Byron Street, Methil. Officers, including firearms officers, are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
