Police Launch Urgent Appeal After 13 Lambs Found Dead in County Down Farm Attack
Police in Northern Ireland are urgently appealing for information following the discovery of 13 lambs found dead with their necks deliberately snapped on a farm in County Down. The animals were located on the Drumsesk Road in Rostrevor, with authorities believing they were killed between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Shocking Scene Described by Farmer
Farmer Kevin McGivern recounted the distressing moment he arrived at the field, stating to the BBC that he immediately sensed something was terribly wrong from a distance. Upon closer inspection, he found the lambs deceased, with at least 11 having their necks broken and the others likely strangled. Mr McGivern described the scene as resembling a crime scene, highlighting the brutality of the incident.
Police Investigation Underway
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has labelled the deaths as a shocking crime. Inspector Reynolds confirmed that a report was received indicating the lambs were killed at the farm on Drumsesk Road between 7:00 PM on Friday, 13th March, and 7:45 AM on Saturday, 14th March. He emphasised that it appears the necks were deliberately broken, and authorities are keen to hear from anyone who noticed unusual activity in the area during those times.
