DJ unmasked as drug trafficker absconds from prison

Kyle Chase, also known as Kyle Muldoon, a DJ from Liverpool who was unmasked as an EncroChat drug trafficker under the handle "ThreeFatLadies", has absconded from HMP Thorn Cross. The 41-year-old owned north Liverpool nightclub Spray Shop before he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court in July 2024 to be sentenced after he admitted conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine, ketamine and cannabis using the encrypted messaging network.

Absconded from prison

Cheshire Police said this afternoon, Thursday, August 20, that Chase absconded from prison. He was last seen leaving HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington around 9am on Friday, August 14 and has not returned since.

Chase, who away from his criminal involvement had carved out an international reputation under his DJ name Eldon, used two handles on the EncroChat network - "ThreeFatLadies" and "FourFatLadies" - before the platform was infiltrated by European law enforcement in March 2020.

Drug trafficking operation

Chase, of O'Reilly Court in Vauxhall, was shown to have 113 other accounts stored in his contact list, and had been in contact with 31 of them during the period when authorities monitored the network. However, due to the amount of contacts and the gulf of his activity, Liverpool Crown Court was told he had been operating well in advance of that period.

Communications referred to having "contacts in Dubai who could source ketamine from India" while a message exchange "discussed the importation of cocaine". One of his contacts, "VelvetRoyal", was unmasked as Alan Roberts, who received nine years behind bars.

Chase meanwhile made reference to being owed a sum of £69,000 during April 2020. A contact called "Luke" was said to have been indebted to him to the tune of £286,000, while "Farmer" was noted as owing £96,000. Messages later referred to being paid £64,000 by "Trig", sums of £192,000 and £416,000 by "VIP" and £64,000 by Farmer. On April 15, Chase told the handle "GeneWilder": "Lad, it's hard work. Everyone's at it in competition for not that much profit any more. I'm getting by at the minute."

Extensive involvement in drug world

In other chats, Chase spoke of the "availability of bash" - or an adulterant in the cutting of drugs - and "hides" for storing illicit substances during their transportation, speaking of a Peugeot van with the ability to stash up to 40kg. His messages showed involvement in the supply of a total of 12kg of cocaine, 3kg of heroin, 10kg of ketamine and 15kg of cannabis. He was described as a "highly trusted conspirator with extensive involvement in the drug world".

Chase was linked to the usernames after contacts referred to him by his DJ name and "Fat Kyle". The password for his device was a relative's phone number and the city of Barcelona, where he previously resided, while he also sent images from inside his music studio to his associates.

Police appeal for information

Police said Chase was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shorts, grey trainers and a grey cap. He was also believed to be carrying a black ruck sack. He is described by police as white, around 5’9” tall, with brown hair and a beard. The 41-year-old is understood to have a number of links to the Merseyside area.

Anyone with any information regarding Chase’s whereabouts is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website, quoting incident number IML-2398980.
