Police seek woman after Anfield family racially abused

Merseyside Police has released images of a woman detectives want to speak to after a family in Anfield was subjected to a campaign of harassment involving racist abuse and threats.

Over the past four weeks, the force received reports that a group of children and a woman had been shouting racist abuse and making threats against a family in Anfield, a spokesperson confirmed.

Appeal for information

A force spokesperson said: "We've carried out extensive enquiries into these reports and today, Friday 21 August, we are releasing two images of a woman who we want to speak to."

Detectives believe the woman could have information following reported racially aggravated public order offences.

Detective Inspector Louise Johnson said: "If you recognise yourself in this image, please come forward as you could have information to assist our ongoing investigation. Similarly, if you know who this woman is, let us know so we can continue with our enquiries."

Community response

Johnson added: "Threatening or racially abusing someone simply because of their ethnicity or religion is truly abhorrent and has absolutely no place in Merseyside. We will continue to work closely alongside community organisations, including faith leaders, and would encourage anyone who has experienced or witnessed hate crime to come forward and contact us."

The spokesperson added: "If you have information about this incident, you can contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC. You can also call 101 quoting reference number 26000658353."

Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their online form.
